Barbara Moody

Born and raised in Fall Branch, Tennessee, where she continues to reside, George Ann Moody has dedicated her life to education, community service, and leadership. A graduate of Fall Branch High School, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health, Physical Education and Recreation from Carson-Newman University and a Master’s degree in Physical Education and Education from East Tennessee State University.

George Ann devoted 34 years to Kingsport City Schools, serving in a variety of impactful roles. She spent 24 years teaching physical education at Andrew Johnson Elementary School, where she established a Tennessee Physical Education Demonstration School. She later served as the Family Life Educator for the district before joining the Superintendent’s Office, where she worked for eight years as Human Resources Assistant, Compliance Officer, and School System Safety and Security Officer. She retired from Kingsport City Schools in 2007.

Following her retirement, George Ann has remained deeply involved in her community. She currently serves as Co-President of the Kingsport Retired Teachers Association and is an active member of Fall Branch United Methodist Church, where she serves as Choir Director, Lay Leader, and on numerous church committees. She also serves on the Superintendency Committee of the Appalachian District of the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church.

Her commitment to public service extends through her involvement with numerous organizations. She is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Kingsport, previously served for many years on the Safe House Advisory Committee, and currently serves on both the Frontier Health Board of Directors and the Frontier Health Foundation Board of Directors.

George Ann has been married to her husband, George, a retired teacher and coach from Daniel Boone High School, for more than 53 years. They are the proud parents of twin daughters who live and work in Knoxville, Tennessee.
